The question was whether that had to be booked in advance or left to the morning: "Due to a let down I will probably need the extra van to clear rubbish as well as good pass on items. Do you need me to book this for definite or would the crew prefer to make that decision on the day, I don’t want to cause any problems on the day."

Two days were booked, and the order of them was set by the customer, sensibly: "Let’s see how we get on with the downstairs and that will help us figure out how difficult or easy upstairs will be. If we make good progress in the two days we can always make a start on the stairway." Nobody can tell from a photograph how many layers are under the top one, or how the paper is going to behave once steam gets near it. Downstairs ate both days, and the rest went into a separate booking — "Will book a new slot for the upstairs once we’ve got the downstairs sorted I think."
