47 clearances have landed in Oxfordshire postcodes — OX4 and OX3 in east Oxford most often, then OX2, OX5 towards Kidlington, OX26 at Bicester and OX9 at Thame.
The city is the awkward part
Oxford itself is the hardest place in the county to clear a house in, and for one reason: the streets in Jericho, east Oxford and Cowley were built before cars and are now permit parking end to end. A Victorian terrace there has no drive, no front garden and a controlled bay outside. Half the planning is where the van stands.
A great deal of that stock is student and HMO property, which means a clearance is often between tenancies, on a date fixed by the university calendar rather than by anybody's convenience. Those weeks in summer are busy and worth booking early.
Outside the ring road it is completely different — Bicester, Didcot, Witney and Banbury are newer, with driveways and turning space, and the day is decided by how full the garage is.
The villages towards the Cotswolds are stone, narrow-laned and often listed, which limits what can be done to a doorway to get a wardrobe out.
