Abergavenny, Chepstow and Monmouth: the border country, and the greenest part of the old county of Gwent.
Older and larger stock than the valleys — stone houses with outbuildings, farms with barns, and market-town terraces. Access is generally better and the volume is in the outbuildings.
The Wye valley towards Tintern is narrow-laned and slow going.
