We do a lot of house clearance in Rayleigh, and almost none of it starts because somebody woke up wanting the house empty. Everything else was ours to deal with, cupboards and wardrobes and drawers included, because a clearance where the crew takes only what is standing in the middle of the room is not a clearance.
Then the floors, which is where most of the misunderstandings on a job like this live. What we had put in writing beforehand was this: "the staff will clear everything from inside cupboards, wardrobes, drawers, they will take up carpets, underlay and gripper rods (gripper rods where possible, if the rods have been put down over the top of tiles or other floor surfaces other than floor boards we will not remove as they can cause damage to the tiles or flooring underneath) and sweep right through the property as well if required".
That bracket is not us being awkward. Gripper rods nailed into floorboards come up cleanly. The same rods pinned or glued over tiles or a laid floor come up with pieces of the floor attached. Whoever has to sell the house afterwards is worse off than if we had left them where they were. So we lift what lifts, and we say which is which in advance. The fridge freezer went out as hazardous waste, which is what fridges and freezers have to be treated as. The gas in them is the reason, and it is why they cannot go in with the rest of a load. The property was swept right through at the end.
Everything that came out went to licensed recycling stations, or to local charities where it was suitable and still fit for use. Waste transfer notes were there for the asking, and they still are on any house clearance we do.
