Most house clearance in Windsor starts with a property that has to be emptied by a date somebody else set. The first thing we were asked about a flat in the town centre wasn't the price. Three bedrooms, a garage and a shed
One July we were asked to quote for a house with outbuildings, and when we asked for the size of the property and the outside areas to be cleared the answer came back in six words: "3 bed, garage and garden shed". That was the whole brief, and it turned out to be an honest one.
We offered a Wednesday, with the Friday of the same week held in reserve in case the shed and the garage ran long. The customer was happy with that — book the first day, keep the second in your pocket. Team at the property for nine. Two loads went out on the day: the house first, then the garage and the shed, which is the order we'd use again on the same property.
A chest freezer came out of the outbuilding and a smaller fridge freezer out of the kitchen, and both went to a specialist site rather than on the load with everything else. One mattress. One upholstered item, which is its own category now and has to travel separately. Booking two dates and only needing one is common — we'd rather hold the slot than leave somebody with half a garage and no van coming back. The invoice went to a relative at a different address, which happens more often than not when a family is sorting a property between them.
Reuse first, tipping last
Furniture, white goods and household bits don't just vanish into a hole in the ground. Sound furniture, working appliances and usable household goods we route to reuse where we can — charity shops and reuse projects locally take a fair amount. What can't be reused goes over a weighbridge at a permitted facility, with paperwork we can hand you on request. We hold waste carrier licence CBDU419679 and we're insured for the work. A few categories are handled apart from everything else because the law requires it. Fridges and freezers are hazardous waste and are degassed at a specialist site, whatever the size — an under-counter unit, a tall upright, a chest freezer that's been in a garage for fifteen years. Mattresses go for separate processing. Televisions and monitors are WEEE and can't go on a general load. Sofas, armchairs and anything else with foam padding are POP items — persistent organic pollutants, the flame retardants in the foam — and since 2023 they have to be kept apart from ordinary waste and incinerated at a permitted plant, not shredded, not landfilled. That's why one armchair takes more handling than a wardrobe twice its size. Paint tins, gas canisters and fire extinguishers we can take, but they travel separately; we can't tip them in with the rest.
Where the vans go
Our vans reach Windsor via the M4 and the A308, so the whole SL area is straightforward: Windsor and Eton, Old Windsor, Dedworth, Clewer, Datchet, Bray and Langley.
